PATTY’S PICK: JALAPEÑO PINWHEELS

by Patty Roper

For an appetizer that is perfect for tailgating, grab a can of crescent rolls and a package of cream cheese. These delicious and quickly prepared bites also make a great presentation. Enjoy!

JALAPEÑO PINWHEELS

1 (8-ounce) can crescent rolls
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
1 (3-ounce) jar jalapeños with juice
1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out crescent rolls to form 2 large rectangles. Press perforations yielding 2 solid rectangles. Combine cream cheese, jalapeños, and sugar. Spread half of cream cheese mixture on each rectangle. Roll long sides into a roll and cut each roll into 16 small pinwheels. Place spirals on cookie sheet lined with foil and sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until light golden brown.

Yield: 32 appetizers

For Sausage Pinwheels, Rita Black of Ridgeland, deletes the confectioners’ sugar and replaces the jalapeños with 1 (16-ounce) package of browned and drained sausage. Men love these!
