PATTY’S PICK: SPICY CRACKERS

by Patty Roper

Ann Conner of Brandon makes these spicy crackers every year for Christmas gifts. The original recipe is from her friend Rita Hickman of Brandon. These delicious crackers, with a perfect blend of spices, are just the treats to share with friends, neighbors, and teachers. They are great accents for soups and salads and a special snack to enjoy with a movie or at a ballgame. The recipe is so easy to prepare and can be presented in special glass containers, tins, or bags.

SPICY CRACKERS

6 to 7 boxes of your favorite crackers, such as:
     Sociables
     Chicken in a Biscuit
     Ritz or Ritz Sticks
     Cheese Nips
     Wheat Thins
     Mini Club Crackers
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
¾ cup vegetable oil
1½ sticks butter, melted
3 tablespoons Ac’cent
2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
3 teaspoons garlic salt
3 teaspoons chili powder
3 tablespoons Tabasco Sauce

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Empty all crackers into a medium garbage bag and mix well. Whisk other ingredients together and pour into bag over crackers. Mix carefully to avoid breaking crackers. Place crackers on 3 large baking sheets, and bake for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Yield: tons of spicy crackers!
