This recipe first appeared in our 2007 Field Guide and we have had many requests for it. Very easy and delicious, it might just become your new favorite cake!
WHITE WINE CAKE
Pan Preparation:
Baker’s Joy cooking spray
½ cup pecans, finely chopped
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Prepare bundt pan by spraying with Baker’s Joy and sprinkling with pecans until coated. Set aside.
Cake:
1 package butter recipe golden cake mix
1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
½ cup vegetable oil
4 large eggs (at room temperature)
½ cup white wine
½ cup water
Combine all ingredients with mixer and pour into prepared pan. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Glaze:
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
1 cup sugar
¼ cup white wine
Prepare glaze by dissolving sugar in melted butter and then stirring in wine. Remove cake from oven and place pan on damp dish towel. Pour glaze onto cake in pan immediately. Allow glaze to soak into cake in pan for about 15-20 minutes. Remove cake to plate.
Yield: 16-20 servings.
